Rainy days. They can be pretty miserable, and we have certainly had more than our share lately in Central Florida. However, they also provide your practice an opportunity to shine and make someone’s day a little brighter through a small random act of kindness. Here are a few we’ve come across in our community:
- On a cold, rainy day in January, a local bank branch manager shared that she had brought in a huge crockpot of homemade chili for her staff so that no one had to go out to get lunch if they didn’t want to. Imagine how those employees felt about their workplace and leadership that day.
- Another local medical practice I once worked with keeps large golf umbrellas with their logo at their checkout area on rainy days and encourages patients to take one. They also offer to walk patients to their car with the umbrella.
- And a colleague of mine spent a recent rainy Saturday afternoon at a new local hotel restaurant with her son’s soccer team, sitting out a tournament weather delay. The staff could have been annoyed that they had such a large group of squirmy pre-teen boys hanging around so long, but instead they engaged them in some games, brought out a DJ, gave them free ice cream, and next thing you knew, it was a full-blown party, and other hotel guests were joining in. Many of the adults were taking photos and video, and sharing this unexpected positive experience on social media.
Of course a party in your reception area is probably too much, even on a rainy day. But what are some simple, unexpected ways your practice can be a ray of sunshine on a rainy day?
