Your employees are a direct extension of you and often have even more direct interaction and conversation with your patients than you do. At times, they are quite literally your right hand, your voice, and sometimes even your memory.
Are they happy? Do they feel appreciated?
Here are a few simple ways to reconnect with them:
- Recharge batteries with a staff retreat.
- Provide them with opportunities for continuing education.
- Recognize events that are important to them — work anniversaries, birthdays, etc.
- Provide unexpected rewards for going “above and beyond” — could be a gift certificate, tickets to an event, a 1/2 day off, etc.
- Celebrate milestones and successes — both individual and group.
- Invite them to lunch or coffee to solicit their input and ideas on how to improve the practice.
