Want to maximize your Web site’s performance? Want to increase your exposure and awareness in the community? Want to improve patient satisfaction? Want to be viewed and valued as an expert in your field?
Seems like a lot to tackle, but there is one simple way to help achieve all these goals: spend a couple hours and write a good article on a hot topic in your field of expertise.
We’ve all heard the excuses, the most common being, “I don’t have time.” I would argue the return on the small amount of time spent writing will be multiplied.
Just how many legs can one article have?
- Put it on your Web site. Then e-mail a link to this article to your patients.
- Share it through your social media connections on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.
- Offer it to a local magazine or publication in your community. Many are eager for timely health content, especially if it relates to health and wellness and comes from a local expert in the field.
- Make copies of the article available in your waiting and exam rooms.
- Share the article with your key personal and community contacts and encourage them to use/publish it as well. Employer newsletters, schools, hospitals, sports leagues, community organizations like the YMCA … depending on your topic and target audience, this could be just the thing they were looking for.
So get busy and write an article. Even better, write one a month. Use them well, and you will be pleasantly surprised at how a little content can do a lot for you.
