Who says the welcome wagon is history? What’s old can certainly become new again and in this day of hustle and bustle, reaching out with a personal approach can help you stand out from the pack.
• Develop a plan to contact new physicians in town who have never referred but should/could.
• Call or write a personal letter of welcome/introduction. Let them know not only who you are and what your practice has to offer but more importantly, what you can do for them. Also offer to help connect them to others – whether it be through a professional group/committee or a community organization/event.
• E-mail or mail a referral pad/form for your practice. Make it easy and convenient for them to send you patients.
• Send your business card and hand write your personal cell phone # on it. This simple step can speak volumes about your willingness to reach out and assist them.
After all, we’ve all been the new kid on the block. Who reached out to you?
